Monday, March 31st, 2008
MelSa asked:

I had an atrial bigeminy last night, it went like this: normal, normal, skip, normal, skip, normal, skip, normal, skip, normal, skip, normal, normal, normal and it remained normal but I was really scared! My doc put me on a Holter, did and Echo and an ECG and a stress test and said that i have Premature Atrial Contractions. Is this bigeminy serious???

What are some possible causes of PACs and PVCs on an EKG?

Monday, March 24th, 2008
average joe asked:

My son (10 mos) recently had an EKG that shows both premature atrial complexes and premature vertricular complexes. We have an appointment with a cardiologist next month but I was trying to learn as much as I could before then. What are some of the possible causes for these conditions that the doctor might discuss with us?

Does anyone have tips on how to sleep with PVCs or PACs?

Friday, March 21st, 2008
dwg1998red asked:

Premature atrial and ventricular contractions are considered harmless by the 3 doctors and 2 cardiologists I’ve seen, but what a pain in the ass! Those of you who are as unfortunate as me to actually feel every single one of them, how do you cope? I can’t sleep, and then being tired makes them worse. I take atenolol, but it doesn’t seem to do much. Does anyone have any favorite medicine to control them or sleep through them?

Is there a cure for Atrial Fibrillation and Left Bundle Branch Block?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008
Snowberry1 asked:

Throughout most of my adult life, I have had “palpitations”. I had EKGs and even wore a holter monitor about 14 years ago. Doctors just sort of ignored it. A few weeks ago, during a routine colonoscopy, the LBBB was discovered. I then had an EKG, ECHO and Stress test that indicated ischemia. Cardiologist recommended a cardiac cath which was done on Monday. But while in the hospital on monitor, I went into A-Fib. So, for the first time, the “palpitations” I have had several times a year were recorded and diagnosed as A-FIB. The cath was clear, no blockages in the arteries. I was sent home on Lopressor and baby aspirin. I do not have high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Now I am having multiple A Fibs a day and feel light headed. Can I stop taking the Lopressor? Is there another drug that will prevent it? Thanks for listening!!!

Medical professional help here would be appreciated?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008
emdagenais asked:

Can the cells in the heart that help it contract when the natural pacmaker (sino atrial node?) is inefficent be the cause of a more forceful beat(Palpitations?). I have had bradycardia 39bpm for the past ten months, which I think has caused imbalance and the forceful beat of the heart, that is most noticeable laying down in bed. Wondering if when the heart has to take up the slack for the pacemaker, that is why i feel a much harder contraction. Very worried, to this point the cardiologist has found nothing from the ecg, echo, blood test, and holter. Now that want to send me to neurology(????). Any insight into the question is appreciated.
I have not had a pacemaker put in.

What kind of medical examination picks up cardiac force?

Friday, March 14th, 2008
Wolf asked:

Palpitations are often the result of elevated cardiac contraction force.
The ECG can pick up tachycardia, bradycardia, atrial fibrillation, ventricullar fibrillation, cardiac arrest, atrioventricullar fibrillation, ectopic beats etc.
The holter monitor does pretty much the same job.
Other equiptment show the pumping ability of the heart, while other machines show structural heart damage and obstructions, say myocardial infarction or pulmonary thrombosis.

What would need to be carried out to measure cardiac contraction force?
