Taking aspirin as stroke preventative during Atrial Fibrillation?
Monday, June 27th, 2011Aaron U. asked:
Usually Warfarin is administered to thin the blood during an episode of AF (to prevent a stroke). But I also read that aspirin can be a safer alternative. I inquiry about this, because I have mitral valve prolapse, and suffer from pretty frequent premature atrial contractions, and they sometimes make my heart jump right into a full blown fit of atrial fibrillation. Makes me *cringe* with uneasiness and discomfort from all the chaos taking place in my heart. Anyways, I would rather take aspirin than Warfarin, if possible. Coupled with my beta blocker (60mg Propranolol). Good or bad idea?
