Any information about strange heart palpitations?

Saturday, December 17th, 2011
Christopher B asked:

I’ve been having weird heart palpitations for the last four days. Today, I finally went to the ER, during my exams, I had stress test where I had some atrial arrhythmia’s…well those are the exact same sensations that I was having that brought me to the ER in the first place. Here’s the odd part the NO ONE could answer. I can induce the arrhythmia’s myself by humming or singing…even lightly. I know it sounds odd, but I proved it to the women doing my echocardiagram and she said “freaky”. When I mentioned this to the nurses and doctors they just kind of gave me patronizing answers, but here I am released with a diagnosis of “PACs” (premature atrial contractions), but with no explanations of why they have come on suddenly and how I am able to induce them vocally. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Can you imagine if I have to live like this for the rest of my life? The worst part….I am a singer. Please help me, if you have ANY idea of what this could be. Thanks.
**The other thing I want to mention is that they have been happening too during regular speech just not with the same frequency, and then obviously again during the stress test during exertion.

Sinus arrhythmia, please explain?

How does inspiration accelerate the heart rate?

So far I’ve got inspiration, then contraction of diaphragm, then increase in intrathoracic volume, then decrease in intrathoracic pressure.. I’ve read that blood flow through the inferior vena cava increases as a result, so there is an increased atrial and ventricular (right side) filling, etc..

Is an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) more likely to burst during extreme physical exertion?

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011
dutyofyou asked:

I am 25. I have contolled high BP and also have premature atrial contractions. Within the last week I have had fairly constant and slightly uncomfortable visible bulging pulsing right around my bottom rib under my heart. I’m waiting on an ultrasound to determine if I have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Before I get the ultrasound done I am scheduled to complete a 12 mile ruck march (army), which would obviously be challenging for my heart and requires much endurance and must be done in three hours and must move very quickly with a heavy ruck. My question is if I do have an abdominal aortic aneurysm would it more likely be triggered to burst during this kind of extended physical exertion? Should I do this? How concerned should I be. I’ve also been having abdominal pain, stinging in my heart and an eerie feeling and nervous stomach.

Has Focalin damaged your child’s heart?

Sunday, December 11th, 2011
becky asked:

My daughter had an ECG two years ago to make sure everything was ok with her heart before beginning ADHD medication. The ECG was normal. She has now started having symptoms and we had another ECG. It showed Frequent Premature Atrial Contractions and a Right Bundle Branch Block. We now have to see the Cardiologist and have more tests to find out what is causing this. I am of course really worried. I am also wondering if Focalin has caused this. Has anyone else had any issues with their child (or yourself) taking Focalin?
