I have an abberant atrial focus, and today was told that my new EKG shows an ectopic P wave. What is this?

I am a 40 yr old female, and had the EKG as part of my annual physical. The abberant atrial focus was diagnosed in 2002, and after a few visits, the cardiologist cleared me. I will be seeing him again with this change in my EKG, but have to wait several weeks to see him. I am VERY interested in what this means, especially as I have major back surgery scheduled for May. My GP said the surgeon will require cardiac clearance before he agrees to operate. I am VERY glad this was detected before my “pre-op” appointment so I have time to play with before the May 16th surgery date.!
